Sandwick parish takes its name from the the (original) Church of Scotland at Sandwick (San'ick), one of a number of different villages and hamlets that comprise the parish. The main "villages" are Hoswick, Stove, Swinister, Houlland, Central (& Kirtleside), Brentfield, San'ick, Leebiton and Setter - with a few other named clusters of houses, such as Broonie's Taing, Hillside, Park, Pund, Hillcrest, Cullister, and a few interesting ones (Camperdown, Gutterloo, Golga [Golgotha]), so on.
